The Principle of Male Leadership

Gen. 1:26-31; 2:15-25; 3:8-21; 1Cor. 11:3, 11-12; 14:34-35; Eph. 5:22-6:4; 1Tim. 2:8-3:13

 

Discussion Points:

 

1. Where did the idea of male leadership originate?

            a. What are some common views in society of male leadership?

            b. How should we as men react to society’s views on this subject?

            c. How is male leadership connected in Scripture with:

                        (i) The creation of man and woman

                        (ii) The fall of man and woman

2. How is the principle of male leadership applied:

            a. In the home?

            b. In the church?

3. What characterizes good leadership and bad leadership?

            a. From man’s point of view?

            b. From God’s point of view?

c. How might a woman’s view of good leadership be different than her husband’s?

4. Discuss these four essential characteristics of leadership from the United States Marine Corps: Candor, Commitment, Courage and Competence.

5. Discuss leadership in relation to shepherds (lead) and ranchers (drive).

6. Discuss the two primary perversions of leadership: abdication & tyranny.
