Discussion Points:

 

1. Discuss the spiritual principles of financial stewardship taught in these verses.

a. What does the Bible have to say about debt?

b. What should our attitude be toward work, success, money and material goods?

c. What does the Bible say about saving money, is it worldly to do so?

            d. How do these spiritual financial principles differ from modern financial philosophies?

            e. Is it possible to manage our money by these spiritual principles today?

2. What should be our attitude toward “getting rich?”

            a. How do we balance a healthy desire for success with worldly greed?

b. What would you consider to be warning signs of an attitude of greed/worldliness?

3. Who is responsible for providing and caring for my family?

            a. How do some men, even working men, fail to meet their obligations in this area?

b. To who have we entrusted our future care, e.g. Social Security, pension, savings?

c. What is God’s plan for caring for the needy and elderly?

4. Discuss practical issues of budgeting, saving and giving.

            a. How many of us use written budgets in managing our household expenditures?

b. How can having a written budget safeguard against debt and financial disaster?

c. Why do so many people fail to save and give in a consistent, purposeful way?

The good things we have are blessings from God, and He has commissioned us as stewards of these things. Are we managing His blessings well?
